Sneak Peek of Master Re-Do

Things are FOREVER changing around here, and finally my husband is getting used to it!

Usually I am happy with a project until I see something I want to add ot tweak a little, but in this case, I have HATED this wall color since the second we put it on (6 years ago!).  But I was 7 months pregnant, and decided to settle and unfortunately I never re-did it, because I was focusing on the kids rooms.

Until this weekend!! (WooHoo!), all sports were cancelled and therefore we had a full day of no plans, so I took over and decided we finally paint the wall that I have always hated so much!

Now I know you can hardly tell a difference, but believe me there is.  The old paint had a very red base, and the brown was a very orange-ish color in the sunlight.  The new paint has more of a green base and doesn't clash so much with the red in the furniture.

(After: greenish brown, no more patches, and gold shimmer decals)

I was finally able to put on the damask decor!  I didn't want to over do it because the comforter has a lot of gold, but I am actually very happy with the turnout.

I will post pics of the rest of the room as I finish it, I have a couple of to add.  But I am so happy to say I finally am very happy going to bed now, I just LOVE it!

Table and Chair Re-do

I love that I can find something at a yard sale and see the potential in what it can be, my husband doesn't like that so much, ha! 

When I came across this table, I knew that with a little paint, we could make it work with a couple of chairs that we already had.

So I sanded and painted, added a little vinyl to make it a game board and viola, we have great furniture and a new gameboard for the kids to play!



Cupid Rosette Frame

I bought this piece of wood, and knew I wanted to do something "Valentines-ish" with it, just wasn't quite sure what...

Then I came across a cute picture of Cupid and knew what to do!

First,I painted the wood pink...

Then I made a bunch of Rosettes from this tutorial

Then, I cut Cupid out of a piece of vinyl to fit inside my frame of roses

I think it's perfect right next to my "Hugs & Kisses" Scentsy warmer!

Valentines Day Plate

Just add some vinyl to  regular plate to Jazz it up a bit!

Valentines Day Banner

I have seen all these ADORABLE Valentines banners all over, and just had to make one for myself!!

SO I dug through my paper drawer and came across old work cards (that I knew I woud use someday) and sliced and diced

 Next, I dug through the scrapbook paper that I had on hand, and came up with these... I guess I could hace made a trip to Jo-Anns, but I didn't want to spend the money and I also wanted the banner done, um, NOW!

I cut the edges to add some interest to each piece and layered them and added some flowers and bling, afterall, who doesn't like bling?!

Then I measured how big I wanted the letters and cut them out in vinyl...

Tied each card together with ribbon, and added a bit between to jazz it up a bit, and then hung it up!





Cute baby shower favors

This Sunday I am helping host a small baby shower, I have heard people call them a "Sprinkle" - cute! 

One of my old friends from high school is having her third boy, and she wanted nothing to do with a shower.  But a couple of us girls and her sister-in-laws obliged.  So we are meeting at a restaurant and going to surprise her with lunch and goodies for her and the baby! 

I was responsible for the favors and this is what I came up with:

I got everything from the dollar store and I am pretty happy with the way they came out.  I had an extra pacifier that I made a necklace for the beautiful mom-to-be too!

Dinner mints in the tulle bags, blue pacifier tied to the handle and then the baby's name on the bucket.  I just wanted something for her to have as a keepsake in his baby box.  I hope she likes them!

Matching office decor

I love to display invitations, cards, pictures, etc.  I have been looking for a really cute memo board for a while finally decided to make my own. 

I picked a really pretty frame from Michaels (with a coupon of course), used the back board and covered it with batting and fabric that matched the curtains in the room.  I then bought the trim to do the straps (which I still need to get posts to mount in place).  I screwed the back into the wood part of the frame and then hung it up.

Next I wanted a nice wipe off board, and of course it has to match, because I have a small OCD with things matching - forgive me!  So I went back to Michaels again, got a smaller version of the same frame.  I wrapped the back board in the same fabric and then cut vinyl in a calendar format in "mirror" so that when I applied it to the back of the glass it would be the facing the right way when I hung up the frame.  I again screwed the backboard into the wood part of the frame and then, voila - I have a "not so typical" wipe-off calendar board!

Now I have been wanting to make a chores chart, and when I saw this posted on Sassy Sites, my mind started turning....  So I again, go a matching frame, wrapped the back in the same matching fabric, and cut vinyl in the kids daily chore list.  Everyday the kids get a star next to thier list and at the end of the week, we add it up and they get a treat or a special prize depending on what they have done, or need to work on. 

I also added a backpack hanger right below, so no more backpack over the back of the dining room chair, or office chair, and no more mornings, of asking where is your backpack, we know exactly where to get it.
